How much time does The Course take?

Depending on the leader, The Course takes 15 to 16 hours to complete. These hours are typically broken into a number of sessions, each session being one to three hours in duration.  Depending on the leader and location, sessions may be centered around morning coffee or during a lunch hour. Most are evening courses, typically lasting two hours. Some are scheduled around a complete weekend away at a conference center.

Because The Course is so flexible time-wise, the leader will often ask the participant for his or her preference for meeting together. It is good to keep the following in mind as you plan the schedule:

1. It is best to cover the complete content within a few weeks. Because the story of the Bible is one story, if the sessions are spread out over a long period of time, the individual stories will become disconnected, greatly reducing ultimate comprehension of the content.

2. The longer The Course is spread out over time, the more review is important, which in turn makes the course longer. This is another reason for keeping The Course in as compressed amount of time as possible.

3. It is common for The Course to take eight weeks, two hours a week. Some prefer to meet for four weeks, meeting twice a week for two hour sessions. Others plan five random days, each session being three hours in length. It is all about what best fits your style of learning. Just don't spread it out too long.

Your course leader will work out a schedule that works best for you.

How much does The Course cost?

The Course is entirely free. However, the participant may be asked for a modest fee to cover the cost of the course book and workbook. This may also apply to meals or weekends away if The Course is scheduled to include these aspects.

Do I need to bring anything?

Not at all. All course materials will be provided. You don’t even need a Bible.
